Some Background on Leigh Foster

Podcaster of The Pawz Cauze and Feral Cat Rescue Worker.

Rev. Dr. Leigh Foster (D.D, LVT, CVA) is owner, author, and creative genius behind The Pawz Cauze podcast, as well as several other endeavors to provide rescue and domestication to feral (wild) cats. A former veterinary technician, certified Animal Behavior Specialist, certified Veterinary Assisstant, Veterinary Technologist and Zoo keeper on her way to becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Leigh has devoted much of her time to the rescue and taming of feral cats, and helping to provide wildlife rescue and whole health services for animals. She often laughingly refers to her obsession with cats as her favorite fetish, which she has held near and dear to her heart since she was a small child growing up on a farm in Kansas. She runs the Never Say Never Feral Cat Rescue and Domestication School in Michigan where she lives, and at the time of writing this page, currently has some 23 cats living in her home in various stages of rescue and rehabilitation or as personal pets. There are also 5 dogs, a chinchila, and a fish who currently call Leigh and her husband their 2 legged parents. Many of the cats currently in Leigh's care are Kittens, rescued with their mothers before they were weaned, and she strives to find suitable homes for such foundlings as soon as they're capable of being without Mom. Leigh is an Animal Abuse Awareness Activist, and takes an active role in helping to prevent cruelty to animals.

Leigh's emphasis is on Whole Health - Body, Mind, and Spirit working as a unified whole, and treated as a single organism - rather than simply treating either physical or psychological symptoms of illness, and keeping the two seperate. After all - the spirit and mind run the body, so its not unreasonable to expect that they can affect how our bodies work. The same is true of animals - fellow inhabitants of this planet, and subject to the stresses of environment that we (mankind) inflict on everything living here. She uses a combination of love and natural remedies to help an animal's entire life, utilizing natural essential oils and traditional herbal methods to combat disease rather than relying on the synthetic medications our society has become dependant upon. She is in the process of writing a book currently, "Foster's Reference Guide to using Essential Oils in the Animal Kingdom" which will give helpful tips, recipes for Essential Oil remedies and pest preventative measures, and other useful information for taking a more natural approach to our pets' heath. Leigh is also the first one to say "This is beyond anything that I can help you with and you need to see a qualified Veterinarian, ASAP"; she supports the need for veterinary care when it is necessary. Leigh also supports the use of lab results and having lab work done to see exactly where the problem may lay.

Leigh is a Cat Nutrionist, and advocates Raw Feeding for both cats and dogs as a healthier, more natural alternative to today's modern kibble feeding. Cats and Dogs are both natural preditors - carnivores, designed by nature to eat Meat as their primary source of nutrition. As carnivores, they lack critical enzymes necessary to properly digest Grain products such as Wheat, Rice, Corn, or Oats. Today's commercially available foods for cats and dogs have to be boosted with additional vitamins and minerals - in large part because the animals cannot extract the nutrients available from the grain base of dry food.

The Pawz Cauze podcast is simply Leigh's latest effort to help spread the word about Animal Nutrition, Wildlife and Feral Cat Rescue, Domestication, and Holistic Health for Pets.
